Topic of Discussion

This year at EUTMUN, we will be discussing the Chagos Islands, a topic embroiled in a complex human rights debate. The Chagossians, forcibly displaced by the British government in the 1960s to make way for a U.S. military base on Diego Garcia, have been fighting for their right to return ever since. The discussion will revolve around issues of sovereignty, self-determination, and the consequences of historical injustices, highlighting the broader challenges within the framework of international human rights law.
